Greetings, dear meows!
I wanted to share something with you that I think is the coolest!
My friend Jason Knear surprised me earlier this week by sending me a song he created for us inspired by my book The Creepy Culinary Adventures of Nia Luna! So unexpected and absolutely kind and thoughtful of him to go out of his way to do. I must admit, I got a little misty when I first heard it. I was so overwhelmed in the best way.
When I first started writing this out, I never imagined or really gave much thought as to how it would be received and if it would be embraced the way it has. Seeing the pictures and posts of meows holding the book in their hands is so surreal and heartwarming.
The book and my daughter Nia’s name resides on the bookshelves and bedside & coffee tables in people’s homes and I’m honored that we’re even the tiniest snippet in their lives. Hearing about how they read the book with their children is more than I could have ever dreamed of or imagined.
My daughter Nia and her autism have enhanced our lives in ways I could never properly explain with words. Our connection is otherworldly, and I love how unconventional and unpredictable our life is. Deliciously messy. I often refer to her autism as her superpower.
Jason also has a son with superpowers and our mutual understanding of what that entails is part of what makes our friendship what it’s become. He’s very creative, talented and has a dark sense of humor just like I do. A quality I hold most high. I just love that song! It’s so fun and really captures the essence of the story. And my daughter. I’ve listened to it at least a hundred times already… 😝 I mean that’s really us and how we live our life. Full of magick, food, mystery, and lots of spooky shenanigans!
